To the west, across Railroad Street, is the railroad right-of-way a scenic excursion train still uses the tracks. A private parking and a play area for the tenant's children behind the hotel are clearly visible from the green. Built as a hotel, it is now a restaurant on the first floor and lodging on the upper floors. The Falls Village Inn to the south dominates the green. Originally a store, it now houses the town hall and historical society. An asphalted driveway to the east separates the green from a three-story frame commercial structure built or substantially rebuilt in 1901 after a fire. Clarke Outdoors will tailor a 'run' down the river that will suit your agenda, either in canoes or rafts.The Falls Village Green, located within the Falls Village National Register Historic District, is a one-half acre square lot at the southeast corner of the intersection of Main and Railroad Streets. When you've completed your journey 10 miles downstream at Housatonic Meadows Picnic Area we'll pick you up and bring you back to our shop where hot showers are available.Come to our shop in the morning and a van will take you to Falls Village.You may also bring a picnic lunch (no glass bottles please!), and stop at one of the many scenic spots along the river.Ĭhoose rafting or canoeing!
